CHP Recovers 13 Guns, Over 10,000 Rounds Of Ammo At Underground Bunker Near Anderson

A well-fortified underground bunker in the Anderson area has been busted by the CHP. In December CHP Northern Division investigators got a tip about a Marijuana cultivation operation. A search warrant was secured and Air Operations did a flyover of the property to confirm the information provided by the tip. After a month-long investigation the warrant was served on Tuesday. Officers reported finding an underground bunker accessible through a 100-foot-long culvert. The subterranean space is equipped with power, ventilation, a concrete floor with a built-in drainage system and all the supplies for Marijuana cultivation. There were also 13 guns, four body armor vests, 30 high capacity magazines and around 10,000 rounds of ammunition including armor-piercing rounds. Among the firearms were a Sawed-off Shotgun and three AR-15 style assault rifles, one of which had a scratched-off serial numbers. Two of the guns were apparently confirmed to be stolen, one of them in 2016 and one of them in 1978. 40-year-old Michael Jay Kamfolt was booked into jail on a long list of charges. He’s since been released on $50,000 bail.
