The CHP is looking for a hit-and-run driver who left his wrecked truck behind in the Happy Valley area. Just before One O’clock Monday morning a 2024 GMC pickup truck was southbound on Canyon Road when it failed to make a curve just south of China Gulch Drive and left the pavement. It hit a power pole, shearing it off at its base and causing electric and phone lines to drop onto Canyon Road. The driver fled the scene on foot, leaving his female passenger in the truck. There’s no good description of the driver, except that he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Canyon Road is closed until PG&E can complete repairs, estimated for 8 or 9 O’clock this morning. There are 226 PG&E customers without power.
