CHP Will Begin Maximum Holiday Enforcement Period On Friday Evening

The CHP will launch a statewide holiday enforcement period during Memorial Day Weekend as increased holiday travel is expected to bring heavier traffic. The enforcement period will begin at 6PM Friday, and continues through 11:59PM Monday. During that time, CHP Officers will conduct targeted enforcement operations focused on reckless driving, impaired driving and seat belt violations. According to CHP, Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of Summer travel, with many families expected to travel to vacation destinations and gatherings throughout the state. CHP Officials said wearing a seat belt remains one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent serious injuries and deaths in crashes.
