The Redding City Council has approved the launch of a major overhaul of Caldwell Park. Working with a $6.7 Million state grant, the city will hire a contractor to build a bicycle park with a bike repair station, a fitness plaza, climbable boulder structures, a shade structure, and add lighting at the skate park and along the river trail. The money will also pay for repairs to existing facilities, more parking, irrigation upgrades, asphalt resurfacing and a new restroom. Maintenance of the bike park will be done by the Redding Trail Alliance.
