City Of Redding Files Suit Over Unpaid Maintenance Costs At Big League Dreams

The City of Redding has filed a lawsuit against Big League Dreams alleging the company owes a total of about $6 Million in unpaid rent and maintenance costs. The multi-sport facility off Old Oregon Trail and Viking Way was built as a public/private partnership in 2001 which called for the company to maintain a 35 year lease. The company was supposed to pay 6% of gross revenue to the city, and 8% of gross revenue over a base of $3.25 Million. Over the years several amendments were made to the lease agreement as unexpected maintenance costs mounted and the economy slumped. The city says the park was not kept in a safe and “first class” condition as required.
