Clint Curtis Accused Of Mishandling Voter Information

Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis may have illegally mishandled confidential voter information. That’s according to a statement released by the county Monday to explain the purpose of a closed session meeting held by the Board of Supervisors on Saturday. On June 4th elections staff were in the process of reconciling ballots when discrepancies were found in the numbers, according to the report, suggesting that some additional ballots may have been handed out to voters prior to election day by a certain unnamed employee. The misaligned numbers would have altered the validity of subsequent reports. In the middle of the reconciliation process, staff apparently locked the materials in a cabinet to finish the job later. That’s when, according to the county, an employee removed some of the materials, made copies, and gave them to Clint Curtis, who locked them in another employee’s office. He later allegedly removed the copies and took them out of the Elections Office for reasons that are unclear. The county statement says that if the law was broken, it falls under the jurisdiction of the California Secretary of State.
