An elderly man accused of sexually assaulting fellow residents of a Redding senior home may be incompetent to stand trial. 89-year-old Milton John Miller was arrested in March and charged with four felony counts of sexual battery on institutionalized victims. Miller has prior felony convictions and is a registered sex offender. His crimes allegedly were committed while he was a resident of Sierra Oaks Assisted Living. Last month his defense declared doubts about Miller’s mental state and a judge ordered that he be evaluated by a court appointed doctor. During a hearing the defense said the evaluation found Miller incompetent to understand the charges against him. He returns to court May 27th, and he remains in Shasta County Jail on $100,000 bail.
