Redding Fire and Police Departments are in the midst of a light-hearted grudge match in the lead up to a blood drive competition. Vitalant’s “Battle of the Badges” is intended to boost the blood supply for the start of Summer, when donations generally drop off. Members of the community are encouraged to participate, and when they give blood they can say whether it’s for the benefit of police officers or firefighters, thus determining a winner. The donation event is at Redding City Hall Tuesday from 11AM to 3PM and July 9th from 8:15PM to 11:15PM. Donors will receive a battle of the badges T-shirt.
