Corning Man Who Fled To Mexico To Avoid Child Porn Charges Faces Life In Prison

A 39-year-old Corning man who had fled to Mexico has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges that could send him to prison to life. In July and August of 2020, Eduardo Castillo used a cellphone to go on the Internet and use downloaded images to pose as a teenage girl. Through social media including Snapchat and Instagram, Castillo enticed at least five underage boys to send him sexually explicit videos and images of themselves. He fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution but last August he was found by the FBI and extradited with the help of Mexican authorities. On Monday he entered a guilty plea in federal court. When he’s sentenced in September, Castillo faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in federal prison.
