An elementary school teacher is accused of felony assault committed against several of her students. Shasta County Sheriff’s Detectives began investigating in February after being told that 43-year-old Jandee Marie Smart had physically abused several children at North Cottonwood Elementary School. Many alleged victims and witnesses were interviewed and Thursday Smart was booked into jail on a number of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, assault with great bodily injury and multiple counts of child abuse.
