A new fire station – Number 9 – is coming soon – presumably – on Tarmac Road in East Redding after the city council approved a purchase and sale agreement for 1.3 Acres currently owned by the State Compensation Insurance Fund. The price cannot exceed $575,000 and is still to be negotiated.
Also, the council voted to begin negotiations with Shasta County to sell city owned property on Lockheed Drive that currently belongs to the airport. The county wants to build a Sheriff Substation and Emergency Operations Center on adjacent property that it already owns and for security reasons would need the city property to build a barrier wall. The council voted to sell the property for appraised value.
Finally, the council will send a letter to the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding property that the Redding Rancheria just acquired adjacent to Win River Casino. The Bureau had requested information before putting the property into a trust for the Rancheria. The property is not within city limits so the council has no objections, however the city does provide utilities to the Rancheria.
