Crews Begin Work To Repair Highway 299 Near Buckhorn Summit

Recent heavy rains have caused a large slip-out just east of Buckhorn Summit on Highway 299. Last week the ground gave way right next to the highway, taking with it a large turnout area and part of the eastbound shoulder. A geological assessment has determined that the actual traffic lanes of the highway are not currently in danger of slipping away. This week a contractor is removing the remaining unstable material, stabilizing the slope and starting reconstruction of the pullout, shoulder and drainages.
