Crews Douse Abandoned Horse Trailer Full Of Cannabis In Trinity County

A trailer full of burning Marijuana was abandoned in Trinity County Wednesday morning. At 5:40AM a driver on Highway 299 a little west of Buckhorn Summit discovered the enclosed horse trailer with smoke billowing from it. The truck that had been hauling the trailer was nowhere to be seen. The Good Samaritan driver had a fire extinguisher, which he used to try and knock down the flames, but when he noticed the unmistakable smell of Marijuana smoke he decided to call 9-1-1 and let the authorities deal with it. A Cal Fire crew responded and pulled dozens of large garbage bags out of the trailer each containing around 30 Pounds of Marijuana. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office ran the license plate of the trailer but it was not useful in identifying the responsible party.
