Crews Hold Linden Fire To 18 Acres Near Mercy Hospital

Crews responded quickly and aggressively to get the upper hand on a fire in West Redding Friday afternoon. The fire started in the Linden Canyon area near Mercy Hospital and spread toward homes in the neighborhood off Starlight. Evacuations were ordered for residents of Seminole Drive, Cutlas Court and part of Auburn Drive. With Redding Fire Department and Cal Fire protecting structures and Cal Fire aircraft dropping retardant and water, the fire was stopped at 18 acres. Crews spent a few hours are tracking down small spot fires and mopping up hot spots.

There were also two other smaller fires in Redding on Friday, one near Lake Boulevard and Buckeye Terrace, and another off Hartnell near Middleton.

A fire started near Bella Vista a little before 3 O’clock Sunday afternoon. The Javelina Fire had a moderate rate of spread. It was stopped at around 4:30PM after burning around 9 acres of grass and brush.
