A series of eight different fires started very early Sunday morning in the Corning area along Kirkwood Road between Capay Road and South Avenue. They started sometime before 3AM and some of them burned together. Firefighters held the blazes to a total of around 5 acres.
Highway 96 remains closed due to the MP 18 Fire north of Hoopa, which has burned 6,277 acres in steep and rugged terrain. It’s now 19% contained. Evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect as crews concentrate on structure protection. Additional crews have been arriving from outside the area.
A fire Sunday night near Ajax Lane and Lago Rosso Court in Bella Vista was stopped at a half acre.
A fire in Trinity County north of Helena off East Fork Road has been contained at an acre-and-a-half.
A timber fire on the northwest side of Lake Siskiyou Sunday morning was held to less than an acre.
