A popular trail at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area has reopened, but there’s a bit of an additional hike just to get to the trailhead. After extensive storm damage repair and cleanup, Crystal Creek Road has reopened to Crystal Creek Trailhead, which is within 1.6 miles of the Whiskeytown Falls Trailhead, and that portion of the road is open to pedestrians. The hike to Whiskeytown Falls from the trailhead is 3.3 miles. Intense rainfall and snow caused a lot of damage over the last few months. Crews had to clear more than 210 trees and 5,000 tons of sediment from the roadway.
