District One State Senator Brian Dahle is trying to save rural hospitals with a bill he’s just introduced in the legislature. Currently, 37 critical access hospitals in rural areas of California don’t get full reimbursement when they provide outpatient treatment for Medi-Cal patients. That means the hospitals lose money when they treat low income citizens. Dahle’s bill, SB1423, would require Medi-Cal to pay the actual full cost of outpatient care for their clients.
