Two arrests were made by Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies during a sobriety checkpoint in Shasta Lake City Saturday night. 672 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Shasta Dam Boulevard as officers checked for valid drivers licenses and screened for signs of impairment. 25 drivers were detained for additional screening, 8 field sobriety checks were done and two people were arrested for driving under the influence. One person was cited for driving on a suspended license with a prior DUI. Funding for the checkpoint was provided through a grant from the CHP Cannabis Tax Fund Program.
