Tuesday is Saint Patrick’s Day. To help keep the roads safe in Shasta County, the Sheriff’s Office will hold a DUI & driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location tonight beginning at 6PM. Officials said these checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes, DUI arrests and traffic patterns. Impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter medications can interfere with your ability to operate a motor vehicle and ultimately result in a DUI. And although it’s green and legal for medicinal and recreational use, driving under the influence of Marijuana is illegal.
