Driver Arrested On Felony Hit-&-Run Charges After Reportedly Killing Woman Riding Mobility Scooter

A driver was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run collision in East Redding Friday afternoon. At 5:20PM, a 63-year-old woman had apparently been grocery shopping and was riding a mobility scooter on her way back home to a senior living facility. She was struck by a car on Hilltop Drive at Palisades Avenue, and died of her injuries a short time later. The driver of the car fled the scene. With the help of witnesses, the suspect vehicle was found about a quarter mile away at a Hilltop Drive apartment complex. It was registered to 29-year-old David Anthony Iniguez, but he could not be found. Saturday morning he showed up at the police department to turn himself in. He said he knew he had hit something but didn’t know it was a person until he learned about it from news report. Iniguez was booked into jail for felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
