Excess Slash & Brush Will Be Transformed Into Pre-Fabricated Housing At New Redding Facility

A large-scale building materials factory will be built at Redding’s Stillwater Business Park. A company called Fabric Mass Timber says they’ll transform slash and brush and what would be wildfire fuel into pre-fabricated housing elements that can expedite multi-family housing construction with kits of parts. The 200,000 square foot East Redding factory will create advanced manufacturing jobs at what they’re calling a human-centered desirable place to work. The facility is being designed by the architectural firm WRNS Studio. The raw materials will be sourced from Cal Fire and Forest Service hazardous fuel reduction projects. The entire process will produce much less carbon than traditional building practices.
