A wildfire burning through heavy timber north of Hoopa has gotten worse. The MP 18 fire started late Friday afternoon, forcing the closure of Highway 96 and prompting a number of evacuation warnings. The fire expanded quickly Sunday afternoon, but was considered 10% contained. There’s now no containment and it’s grown to 1,568 acres.
