There are two significant prescribed burns planned by the Forest Service for the McCloud area this week, as weather allows. Both will involve burning understory in overgrown areas to reduce the density of the forest. 77 acres will be treated 3 miles west of McCloud just north of Highway 89 near Snowman’s Summit. The other burn will be much larger, covering 419 acres 4 miles east of McCloud near the McCloud River Loop.
