Joanna Francescut, the former Assistant Elections Chief for Shasta County, is exercising an alternative as she seeks support for her campaign to replace appointed Registrar Clint Curtis. California Law allows candidates to collect signatures from registered voters in lieu of paying part or all of the filing fee. She says she’s doing it not only to save money, but also to gauge her community support. Her campaign will be actively seeking signatures at public events.
