A former Weaverville man who now lives in Wyoming has been indicted on federal charges of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse materials. When 39-year-old Shane Woodson was a Weaverville resident in 2023 he allegedly used sophisticated peer-to-peer software to receive hundreds of hours of video files and tens of thousands of depictions of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The materials were reportedly seized along with a child-sized sex doll during a search of his Weaverville home. Woodson was arrested in Wyoming last month and he appeared in court in Sacramento last Friday. If convicted Woodson could face at least 5 and up to 30 years in federal prison, and a Half Million Dollar fine.
