Gang Member Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit In Red Bluff

Red Bluff Police say a gang member led them on a high-speed chase Saturday night, causing destruction along the way. An officer saw a car he knew to be associated with a member of the Surenos and he attempted a traffic stop on Kimball Road at Metzger. The driver fled and nearly hit a car head-on while turning onto South Jackson. At the Luther Road intersection the suspect ran a red light and struck a car. The damage soon disabled the suspect vehicle and the driver fled on foot. After a foot chase with Max the K9, 19-year-old Luis Maldonado was apprehended. The driver and passenger in the car that was hit both suffered moderate injuries. Police say Moldonado was intoxicated and that during the chase he threw away a stolen gun. He was booked on a long list of charges.
