There’s a brand new city park in Downtown Redding. Whistle Stop Park honors the long-time connection Redding has with the California and Oregon railroad. Located right between the Shasta College building, the California Place Apartments and the alley now known as “The Paseo”, Whistle Stop Park has a built-in stage, an innovative fog misting system, lighting and a crafted steel and wood pavilion for events. Some downtown streets will close for a grand opening celebration of the park on Friday June 21st from 4PM to 8PM. There will be live music and free snack food and drinks. Beer and wine will be available for sale. Shasta Living Streets will provide a free bike valet.
