A big rig loaded with bales of hay caught fire Thursday afternoon south of Lakehead. The fire started in the engine of the semi at around 1:25PM just north of the Salt Creek Exit from Southbound Interstate 5. The fire soon engulfed the cab and spread to the load of hay. One lane of the freeway was closed for firefighting equipment until the fire was extinguished.
