Crews are getting the upper hand on the Milepost 18 Fire north of Hoopa, which is now 44% contained after burning 7,445 acres in steep, rugged difficult-to-access terrain. There are more than 1,800 personnel working the fire. Evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect. Highway 96 has opened to one-way escorted traffic.
