A Shasta County Jail inmate sustained non life threatening injuries after he apparently jumped from an upper level level tier of the housing unit landing on his feet. According to a press release, the incident happened at about 2:40PMm Wednesday. The inmate has been identified as 26-year-old Jordan Lee Moore. Medical staff provided immediate first aid until Moore could be transported via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. While awaiting treatment at the hospital, Moore became noncompliant and attempted to escape, while assaulting and violently resisting the two correctional deputies who were assigned to guard him. Moore told the correctional deputies to shoot him while he was resisting. Officers from the Redding Police Department and hospital security responded to assist. After a brief struggle Moore was apprehended and brought under control. Neither the correctional deputies, nor Moore were injured during the altercation. After receiving treatment for his initial injuries, Moore was returned to the Shasta County Jail. Moore later admitted he was trying to escape.
