A fire near Shingletown Thursday was burning in heavy fuels of oak and pine. It started a little before 11am off Wengler Hill Road and Inwood Road. The fire was contained at 3-and-a-half acres. A civilian at the scene was treated for heat-related illness. An unrelated roadside fire started not far from there off Highway 44 and Dersch Road just after noon, burning a spot of about 50 by 50 feet.
