A lawsuit by former Shasta County Supervisor Patrick Jones against District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett has been dismissed by the court. Jones alleged illegal activity during her 2022 re-election campaign. Staff under the direction of at least two county counsels have spent considerable time investigating Jones’ complaint and found no violations of the law. The only improper activity, which Bridgett acknowledged, was checking campaign messages on her cell phone while inside the DA’s Office. That wasn’t illegal, but was against county policy. A visiting judge has thrown out the case, saying Jones had no legal standing to file the suit.
