As the Shasta County Elections Department prepares for the June 2nd Primary, it’s still not clear if the ballot will include a controversial voter initiative to change election rules in the county charter. Wednesday Judge Ben Hanna heard arguments from both sides as Measure B faces a legal challenge brought by a private citizen who says it should be invalidated because it would not stand up to post-election court challenges and is therefore a waste of taxpayer resources. Judge Hanna promises a written decision will come no later than Friday.
