Jury Finds Man Guilty Of Murdering His Grandparents In 2021

A multi-phase trial has been done in a Shasta County double murder case. 32-year-old Colton Wayne Rhone killed his grandparents, 76-year-old Julian Uranga and 73-year-old Karen Uranga, with a kitchen knife and a fire extinguisher inside a home on Oasis Road on New Years Eve of 2021. Rhone had been living in a travel trailer on the property. The deceased couple was discovered by their daughter, Rhone’s mother. On July 21st a jury returned guilty verdicts for first degree murder, second degree murder and first degree residential burglary. The following day the sanity portion of the trial got underway. Wednesday the jury found that Rhone was sane when he committed the crimes. Sentencing is set for August 27th.
