Trial proceedings will continue Wednesday in the case of a Redding man charged with killing his neighbor. Robert Milton, also known as “Crazy Rob” is accused of shooting 71-year-old William Dressler and then attacking him with a cinder block, killing him in their Redding neighborhood, on August 29, 2024. An investigation has shown that Milton believed Dressler was a member of the Mexican Mafia and a Cyborg, with a delusion of the necessity to protect himself against perceived threats. The prosecution concedes that Milton has mental issues, but should be held criminally responsible; the defense counters with a plea of “not guilty by reason of insanity,” leading to voluntary manslaughter. For now, jury selection will continue.
