Karuk Tribe Announces Plans To Build Solar Energy Farm In Yreka

Another Northern California tribe is getting into a clean energy venture. Redding Rancheria recently announced a plan to build a hydrogen fuel processing facility in Red Bluff. Now the Karuk Tribe in Siskiyou County is building a solar energy farm on its property next to Rain Rock Casino in Yreka. The tribe believes that the solar project will offset up to 90% of the electricity used by the casino, administrative trailers, the wellness center and tribal elder homes in Yreka, Happy Camp and Orleans. The project is made possible by a matching $2 Million grant provided by the U.S. Department of Energy.
