Nurses and other healthcare workers at Shasta Regional Medical Center will hold a 24 hour sympathy strike starting at 6 O’clock Tuesday morning. Members of National Nurses United are striking at three Prime Healthcare hospitals to protest the suspension of six nurses at an Illinois hospital. Two of them were fired, and six others were fired at a Chicago hospital. The union says they were punished for speaking out about patient care and understaffing. More than 2,800 nurses will participate in the strike.
