Many voices in the community have responded with shock following last week’s 3 to 2 vote by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors not to censure Clint Curtis for the alleged continual verbal abuse of Elections Department staff. 3 of the 5 County Supervisors said they didn’t want to address the issue until after the June 5th election. One Safe Place issued a statement saying that as one of the area’s biggest employers, Shasta County sets a tone for the entire community as they wonder if it’s safe to speak up. Redding City Councilmember Erin Resner, who is challenging Kevin Crye for his District One County Supervisor Seat, says his dismissive attitude shows victims of abuse that the system is not there for them.
