A 32-year-old man accused in the murders of his mother and brother has been found competent to stand trial after his sanity was called into question by his defense. On September 2nd of last year, Redding Police were called to an Abernathy Way home, where they found Chastity Milenewicz and Anthony Penta shot to death. Jesse Anthony Penta was arrested at the scene. A judge ordered that he be evaluated by two doctors for mental competency, and that’s been completed. Penta has decided to represent himself and has fired his defense counsel. He has a preliminary hearing set for next Thursday.
