A preliminary hearing has been held for a man who was a teenager when he was arrested on felony DUI charges after the death of a passenger in his wrecked car. The crash happened in August of last year on Buenaventura Boulevard near Teton Drive in West Redding. When Redding Fire Department got there the car was in the middle of the road fully engulfed in flames. A passenger, 21-year-old Kannon Wayne Chaney of Anderson, was ejected and was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. Another passenger, 20-year-old Hunter Alexander, was uninjured. The driver, 20-year-old Christian Michael Bennett, faces several felony charges including vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He returns to court December 3rd.
