Man Arrested After Reportedly Intentionally Sparking 3 Fires In Gridley

A Gridley man has been arrested in connection with three brush fires that Cal Fire investigators say were intentionally set. The first fire was reported on May 16th near Laurel Street and Randolph Avenue in Gridley. Witnesses reported seeing a man leave the area shortly after the fire started. A second brush fire was reported in the same area later that evening. Investigators determined that fire was also intentionally set, and witnesses again described seeing a man leaving the scene shortly after ignition. A third fire was reported near Laurel Street and Randolph Avenue during the early morning hours of May 17th. Investigators later determined that fire was also caused by arson. During the investigation, Cal Fire identified the suspect as Edward Eric Everett, who was allegedly camping in a field west of Randolph Avenue near the fire locations.
