An attempted murder has been reported in Modoc County. Sheriffs deputies were called to a home on Cressler Street in the Town of Cederville around 9PM on Saturday for reports of a man smashing windows out of a car. The man identified as 63-year-old Mathew Bradley Grover was reportedly armed with an axe and had been involved in a fight. Grover had apparently struck 60-year-old Timothy Patrick Stanton in the chest causing a laceration. Grover was found in a travel trailer and taken into custody and is being held without bail on charges including attempted murder, battery with severe injury, resisting arrest, and vandalism. Stanton was hospitalized but has since been released.
