A Redding man has pleaded guilty to federal firearms charges. In February of 2021, 49-year-old Gabriel Joseph Detrant ran on foot from an RPD traffic stop of a car containing significant quantities of Heroin and Methamphetamine, as well as a large amount of cash and a loaded 9 millimeter handgun. Detrant was found nearby with a loaded 9 millimeter magazine in his pocket. Four months later an officer in the Bonneyview area stopped Detrant in a BMW for reckless driving. Before he stopped he threw almost a Pound of Methamphetamine and 2.5 Ounces of Heroin out of his car window. Since 1993 Detrant had been booked into Shasta County Jail more than 50 times, and three times in 2021 for possession of drugs for sale. On the gun charge alone, Detrant faces up to 10 years in federal prison when he’s sentenced in August.
