A dead body was found in the midst of a fire in Hayfork Wednesday evening. At around 6:30PM a fire was burning in vegetation behind the Hayfork Post Office near the Swinging Bridge. The fire was under control but then a spot fire flared on the other side of Hayfork Creek. When firefighters went to take care of that blaze they found a man on the ground suffering burns and smoke inhalation. He died while en route to a hospital. About a half acre of vegetation burned and the bridge was damaged as well.
