Man Found Guilty Of Several Felonies After September Standoff With Anderson Police

An Anderson man has been convicted of several felony domestic violence related crimes. In September 60-year-old Amario Gemoya repeatedly elbowed his wife in the face and smashed the windows of her truck with his pellet gun while she was inside. He then drove the pickup with no windshield recklessly and at high speed until it ran out of gas near Rooster’s Landing next to the Sacramento River east of Cottonwood. He then held Anderson Police and sheriff’s deputies in a stand off while pretending to have a gun in his jacket pocket. He was taken into custody with the use of less lethal weapons. On Wednesday a jury found Gemoya guilty of felony corporal injury to a spouse, felony vandalism and misdemeanor resisting arrest. He has a prior strike conviction for robbery. Sentencing is set for February 28th.
