Man Sentenced For Chase After Officers Mistakenly ID Him As A Wanted Murderer

A 37-year-old man from Orland has been sentenced to prison after he was mistaken for a murderer, but ran from the police anyway. Corning Police saw Daniel Gomez-Montavo driving and he matched the description of a wanted killer so they turned around to get him but he sped up to more than 100 miles an hour. He eventually ran off the road and took off on foot. Documentation left in the car allowed officers to track him down. He’s been sentenced to 8 months in state prison, which he must serve consecutively to a 9 year sentence for burglary out of Butte County.
