A Red Bluff man has been sentenced to prison for child abuse. 45-year-old David Scott Kelley was arrested in August of 2024 after he took his 4-year-old son to Saint Elizabeth Hospital for a medical emergency. While the child was being treated, medical personnel found him to be severely malnourished and determined that he had been in that condition for a lengthy period of time. The young boy was transferred to U.C. Davis Medical Center, where he received extensive treatment. After pleading guilty to four felony counts of child abuse resulting in great bodily injury, Kelly has been sentenced to 14 years in state prison.
