A Shasta County man has been sentenced after a jury convicted him last months for years of violently abusing the mother of his children. 41-year-old Samuel Gustav Simonis was found guilty of multiple counts of inflicting corporal injury and assault with great bodily injury, as well as child endangerment, disobeying court orders and dissuading a witness. Last week he was sentenced to 16 years in state prison.
