A Gerber man has been sentenced for domestic violence, and for a fraudulent scheme that stretched the limits of believability. 36-year-old Michael Dean Flores was arrested in May of last year. He was arguing with a woman he was dating, and when she tried to leave his home he blocked her, then struck her repeatedly with an umbrella and his hand, and also bit her. When she fled to get help he followed her and kicked and strangled her. The fraud involved an attempt to buy a new pickup truck with a fraudulent check. When Flores was asked to verify that he had enough funds in his account he provided a fictitious phone number and falsified an email from the bank to show that he had $7 Billion. He’s been sentenced to nearly 5 years in state prison.
