It looks like a man accused of murdering his East Redding neighbor will go to trial. A settlement conference was held Monday for 34-year-old Robert Parker Milton, who is accused of using a cinder block and a gun to kill 71-year-old William Alan Dressler on Brent Road in the Wilshire Drive Neighborhood west of Bechelli on August 29th of last year. Milton is charged with murder, battery with injury on a peace officer and other charges. Last September his attorney raised doubts about his mental competency and after a psychological assessment the court agreed and sent him for treatment at Napa State Hospital. He returned in July and entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. No agreement was made during Monday’s court appearance, so trial is set to begin January 21st.
